Envisage… Foresee… Predict… Planning is everything.
Before moving in, if you are allowed to make some alterations in the house make good use of it. Ensure that there is room for every appliance and furniture you have and also for the furniture you wish to purchase in future.
If you are getting new furniture, try getting furniture which stays compact but can be expanded when needed. There are 3 seater couches which can be pulled out into bigger ones. There are a lot of options available for expandable couches, Tea tables and also Dinning tables. Make use of the space available and do not occupy space with oversized furniture. Make use of all the Corners, L shaped couches and Corner tables compliment the corners of the house.
The thin legs of Floating furniture give room for light and make the place look spacious.
Wall Paint
Choose paint wisely. Light colors give a spacious look. Patterns can be done as per choice. If your are moving into the house you own, you can choose the design you wish using stencils available.
There are a lot of designs available like glow and magnet paint for kids and teen rooms. Wall Decals are an easy and economic way to design walls according to the person using it. And in course of time it is also easy to peel off the old one and replace it with a new decals.
Power plug points
Make sure there are enough number of power points in the house, especially in the kitchen. If not, manage to get power point fixed in whichever place you will need immediately or in future. If there are points reachable for children, make sure they are properly child proofed.
Storage space
Lofts are of great use. Make sure there is adequate storage space available. And more important is these storage spaces have to be furnished to make the place look tidy and clutter free. You can have dressers modeled in wardrobes, long mirrors on doors. There are dressers available which have inbuilt storage space.
Install a rack above your sink to store your wet dishes so the water drops drain in the sink and does not mess your working area.
The space below the kitchen sink can be used to store cleaning materials and it is quite hidden that it cannot be accessed by kids and also pets. Make sure it is closed cabinet
Washroom
Make sure the floor of the bathroom is properly inclined towards the drain. Light colored flooring is the best for bathrooms. It looks bright and spacious and also projects dirt to make cleaning easier.
Behind Doors – the best space saver:
Shoes racks can be placed in the available place behind doors
Cloth hangers can be easily fixed at the back of the door or the wall behind the door, this way it covers the clothes and gives the room a neat look.
Toiletries rack with tooth brush, toothpaste, razors can be fixed behind the bathroom door.
Kitchen towels, oven mittens and wash cloths can be hung behind kitchen door if present or door of any kitchen cabinet.
Matching Handbags, chains, jewelry can be hung behind closet doors.
Wow renovating?!?! Superb and all the best

I agree with making sure things fit prior to moving in – we luckily had just enough room for our sectional couch!

I have been working on organization in my home. We currently are in a small apartment for the time being and lack space. If I’m not organized, my house will be chaos.

Love your post! The only thing with light color flooring is the bathroom is that with kids it always look dirty! I love my flooring not too pale for this exact reason. But it sure looks really good when light colored!
